Pyin Oo Lwin
Pyin Oo Lwin is over 1000 m (3300 ft) above sea level. It is a popular hill station about 69 km (43 miles) away from Mandalay. It is well known for its colonial style houses with large compounds. Pine trees, eucalyptus and silver-oak abound in town. The climate is delightfully cool and pleasant year round.
The Botanical Garden spreads over 170 acres of land and 70 acres of water. The master plan of the Garden was laid out on the design of Kew Gardens in England. The area benefits from an abundant supply of spring water from the great lake nearby. With 4840 trees, 575 different floral species, vast meadows, seasonal flower beds and hundreds of wild orchids, the garden has become a world-class botanical garden.
